She also co-hosted the "7 Spotlight" show on Sunday mornings. ![]() She worked for KHQA-TV, hosting the "Studio 7" show for approximately 20 years. Mitchell graduated from Monroe City High School and attended Olivet Nazarene College in Kankakee, Ill. She was also preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Jim Reed Bailey, who was killed in Italy during WWII. She is also survived by her great-grandchildren, Caleb Matthew Smashey, Zildjian Rhiann Smashey-Larsen, McKayla Lynn Shepherd, Jonathan (Amber) Borgmeyer, Joshua (Sydney) Borgmeyer, and Jacob Borgmeyer, all of Hannibal, and Morgan Mitchell and Vance Mitchell of Lillington, N.C. and a step-grandchild, Brehton Zumwalt of Benton, Ark. (Amy) Smashey of Benton, Ark., Susan Nicole Smashey, Kaci Lynn Shepherd, Tracy (Bob) Borgmeyer, all of Hannibal, Troy (Melanie) Mitchell of Lillington, N.C. "Rich" Smashey Jr., both of Hannibal her stepson, David (Harlene) Mitchell of Hannibal her sister, Mary Ruth Smith of Peoria, Ill. She later married Sheldon Albert Mitchell on Sept. She married Richard Eugene Smashey on Oct. 10, 1923, in Spencerburg, Mo., the daughter of James Neal Bailey and Bessie Tippett Bailey. until the time of service at the Grand View Funeral Home in Hannibal.
